Medical Care All major Australian cities have modern medical facilities comparable to those of the United States and Western Europe. If you are carrying medications, declare them. You're allowed to bring in a four-week supply of personal medicines. Bring a prescription with you, not only to show customs, but in case you need a refill. After an Australian doctor has signed your prescription, you can get it filled at a pharmacy (usually called a "chemist").
