Travelling to Australia
Most visitors to Australia arrive by air. The main international airports are Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, followed by Perth, Adelaide, Hobart (Tasmania), Darwin and Cairns. There are plenty of connections to Asia, Europe and the USA. As the flights from Europe are very long, it is interesting to make a stopover in Bangkok or Singapore for example. Qantas Airways, Singapore Airlines and Garuda provide international flights. Departure tax on international flights is US$19. This tax is collected by travel agents and entered on your airline ticket. There are different options available for transportation to and from the airports. At all the airports plenty of taxies are available and domestic as well as international car rental agencies are represented. At the major airports, bus services to nearby cities are available.

Accommodation
In Australia several types of accommodation are available, varying from simple budget hotels to top end hotels, motels, apartments resorts and hostels. If your wish to get to know the 'real' country, it is also possible to stay on bed and breakfast basis at private homes, at farms and country pubs. Australia has also a large network of well equipped caravan parks in all important places of tourism interest and in most places in the country. Prices vary according to accommodation type for example: Budget room: US$6-12; Moderate hotel: US$20-60;.Top-end hotel: US$70 and up.
