China - Tourism highlights

Tourism Attractions

The capital of China is Beijing. This city is of orderly design, with long, straight boulevards criss-crossed by lanes. The city's central core was once a walled enclosure, and it still maintains its ancient symmetry based on a north-south axis passing through Qianmen (Front Gate). Shanghai, another well-known Chinese city, has nicknames like 'the Pearl of the Orient' and 'the Paris of China'. The city is divided in half by the Huangpu River, with most of the city's highlights located in Puxi. Hong Kong is the city of trade of China. Although this city was independent from China for a long period of time, Hong Kong is pure Chinese. The city Xi'an was, in ancient history, a major crossroad on the trading routes from eastern China to central Asia. Nowadays the city is well known for her Army of Terracotta Warriors. Other interesting activities in China include (mountain) biking, hiking, caving, camel and horse riding, ice skating and skiing.
