Kenya - Tourism highlights

Tourism Attractions

Nairobi is Kenya's capital. It is possible to walk from one end of the central business district to the other in 20 minutes. Unfortunately security, especially at night, is of definite concern. The national museum, snake museum and national archives are all interesting and easy to get to. The city Mombasa can be found in the east of Kenya and is Africa's largest port. Its earliest history dates back to the 12th century. Its most prominent attraction is Fort Jesus, which dominates the harbour entrance. Lamu is Kenya's oldest town and has changed little in appearance or character over the centuries. This once thriving port town is now a relaxing destination. Marsabit National Park is the thickly forested home to Kenya its larger mammals including lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hyenas and gazelles. Kakamega Forest is a tropical rainforest in the heart of an intensively cultivated agricultural area. It's home to a huge variety of birds and other animals. Interesting activities in Kenya include camel safari, trekking, ballooning, white-water rafting, diving, windsurfing and fishing.
