South Africa's capital is Pretoria. This city is the administrative capital of South Africa.Johannesburg, also known as the city of gold, is South Africa's largest city. Johannesburg is not one of the safest cities of South Africa, but if you want to see the real South Africa - and try to understand it - Johannesburg has to be on your itinerary. Cape Town is South Africa's oldest settlement and is dominated by the flat-topped Table Mountain. Cape Town is known for being the most open-minded and relaxed city in South Africa. Magnificent mountain walks, vineyards and beaches are interesting attractions. Durban is a big subtropical city in the northeastern province of KwaZulu/Natal. It has been a major port since the 1850s. Today Durban is also a holiday destination with a happening nightlife. Thanks to the Agulhas current, the weather is warm all year round, which attracts a lot of visitors to Durban's long string of surf beaches. Kruger National Park is one of the most famous wildlife parks in the world. Here you can see lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos as well as cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, all sorts of antilope and smaller animals. The Garden Route runs along a part of the coastline in southern Western Cape Province. The narrow coastal plain is well-forested and is mostly bordered by extensive lagoons which run behind a barrier of sand dunes and superb white beaches. Interesting activities in South Africa include hiking, mountain biking, safari, hang-gliding, ballooning, parachuting, rafting, canoeing and surfing.
