The capital of Tanzania is Dar es Salaam. The city started as a fishing village in the mid-19th century and was turned into a safe port and trading centre. At this moment, it is the city of trade of the country. Therefor the city has a cultural mix of people. Important archaeological collections, especially the fossil discoveries of Zinjanthropus (Nutcracker Man), and the history of the Zanzibar slave trade, can be found in the National Museum. The islandZanzibar has got the Stone Town of Zanzibar. It is a labyrinthine cluster of streets lined with whitewashed coral-rag houses with carved brass-studded doors. There are many shops, mosques, two sultans' palaces, two cathedrals and a Persian-style public bathhouse.The Mount Kilimanjaro National Park contains the highest peak on the continent Africa. Also it has got rainforest, which is home to animals including elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard and monkey. The Serengeti National Park, is Tanzania's most famous game park. Interesting activities in Tanzania include the safari, trekking, flying in a hot-air balloon, swimming with dolphins, snorkelling and scuba diving. |
