The capital city of Vietnam is Hanoi. This city is situated in the North of Vietnam on both banks of the Red River. Hanoi is home to the 11th-century Temple of Literature (Vietnam's first university), the 15th-century Old Quarter with enchanting lakes and temples and to the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh. Vietnams largest city, economic capital and cultural trendsetter is Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon). This city is also known as the heart and the soul of Vietnam. Giac Lam Pagoda, the neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral, Reunification Hall and Cholon market are places worth to visit. Ha long Bucht, the old royal city Hue, the old city of Hoi An and the Cham Tower have been recognized by the UNESCO as World Heritages and are therefore interesting to visit. Vietnam has a coastline of 3260 kilometres with beautiful beaches. Around Dalat there is a beautiful countryside and nature. Interesting activities in Vietnam include snorkelling, diving, hiking, horse riding, cycling, caving and trekking.
